Alkira Glamping (Emerald, VIC)

$0.00

Location: Emerald, Victoria

Getting there: Under an hour from Melbourne CBD

Your Hosts: Emily

Sleeps: 2

Alkira Eco-Glamping Retreat is located on a stunning 40-acre property in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges at Emerald in Regional Victoria.

As you look out of your straw-bale Yurt, you can see both the distant Warburton Ranges, as well over-looking a fern-lined creek dotted with towering Mountain Ash trees. The Yurt faces north and therefore enjoys a sunny aspect.

It is hard to believe that this secluded piece of paradise is only an hour’s drive from Melbourne’s CBD. The unique design of the straw-bale Yurt has a wonderful ambience, which is both warm in Winter and cool in Summer. Close attention has also been paid to the design of the outdoor kitchen, and toilet/shower facilities; plus attractive outdoor seating areas.

Alkira is only 10 mins drive from Emerald, (home of the Puffing Billy steam train). There are plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants, wineries and tourist attractions in the area.

Alkira Eco-Glamping Retreat – experience a totally different world, picturesque and serene, but less than an hour from Melbourne.

About your local community:

The 40-acre property is centrally located on a sealed road, midway between the townships of Emerald, Monbulk and Kallista. Excellent supermarkets and shops are located in Emerald and Monbulk (10 mins by car).

Alkira is located in the heart of the area known as the Dandenongs, renowned for its beautiful scenery and pretty townships. There are many things to do in the area including wineries, cafes, restaurants and beautiful gardens.

In Belgrave, there is the Cameo Cinema complex, much loved by locals, (15 minutes away), containing in part an original "art deco" cinema. An excellent train service to Melbourne also operates from Belgrave (less than an hour to city). Puffing Billy historic steam train line operates from Emerald, be sure to book ahead. There are also National Parks to visit and numerous walks/bike trails to go on. In fact, one walking trail is located literally 20 metres from your cottage (adjoins estate boundary). Dandenong Ranges National Park is only 15 mins away by car.

As the owner, what is your favourite thing to do at this property:

My favourite thing to do is stare out the window at the beautiful view, walk around and hang out with all the animals.

Read books outside and listen to the wildlife all around me. I also like to grab a picnic blanket and sit out in the paddock with some cheese and biscuits on a warm and sunny day.

What is your favourite trip close by:

My favourite place to is to visit the Dandenong Ranges and have a pie at the famous "Pie in the Sky" - I love food and I also used to work there haha ;)

So many beautiful shops up in the Dandenongs and beautiful parks/forest to walk around.

Guests should not forget to pack their….Make sure you pack a book, some walking shoes (walking track right behind Alkira). And get ready to spend your time outdoors. So if it is going to be cold pack a jumper if it is going to be warm pack a hat! Alkira is all about spending time in nature and not turning on any TV's and taking yourself away from the busy day to day life.

How did you come to offer accommodation in the bush?

love travelling myself! We have a wonderful property and thought why keep all this beauty to ourselves..
