Stowaway Kangaroo Island has been custom deigned as the ultimate couples retreat, with everything you would expect of a luxury boutique hotel situated in utter isolation. With an outdoor jacuzzi, glass fronted sauna and double sided woodfire its alpine-esque luxe, perfect for our rugged location in the Southern Ocean. With wildlife lazing in the paddock around each lodge you don't need to go far to experience the fauna that Kangaroo Island is so well known for. Stowaway is comprised of two identical lodges, The Nest and The Sleepy Hollow.

Kangaroo Island is located 13 km off the coast of South Australia and is home to 4500 people and many more kangaroos, koalas and wallabies.
Kangaroo Island, or 'KI' to the locals is a hub of farming and tourism, with award winning distilleries, wineries and super unique food experiences abound. Famous for its bright white beaches and turquoise water is a unique year round destination. KI can be accessed via a ferry or QANTAS flights.
As the owner, what is your favourite thing to do at this property:
We love sitting in the jaccuzzi on sunset, with a gin and tonic and a plate of nibbles. This is the time of the evening the kangaroos come out to graze and you get a wildlife safari from the most relaxing vantage point!
What is your favourite trip close by:
Our location on the North Coast, near Stokes Bay is central to most highlights and our favourite which is a must do when visiting is the Flinders Chase National Park. Regenerating beautifully after the Black Summer bushfire, is home to the famous Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch and a large seal colony. There is nothing like watching the waves crash in from the Southern Ocean. On the way home drop into the Vivonne Bay General Store for a whiting burger to be taken down to the iconic Vivonne Bay beach where you can go for a walk or take a dip or both.
Guests should not forget to pack their…. Esky full of delicious easy to prepare produce and a sense of adventure. We are a 30 minute drive to the main town so you will want to make the most of our fully equipped kitchen.
How did you come to offer accommodation in the bush?
I am a farmer by trade and after having my second child was looking for a change and a more child friendly business for this stage of my life. I had seen this luxury couples retreat concept while on a farming travel scholarship and thought it would be perfect for Kangaroo Island.
